-----
Blood contains clues to a person's health. Blood is highly complex and contains hundreds of chemicals and proteins - in addition to the red cells that give blood its color and the white cells that help fight infection. The balance of all these materials is critical to good health. Too much or too little of any component can indicate the possible nature of an illness. Examining a small sample of blood can help reveal what is going on in terms of health and disease, and help a doctor determine the best course of action.
After a sample of your blood is drawn, it is taken to the laboratory where specially trained scientists use sophisticated equipment to conduct tests requested by the doctor. These machines can prepare a blood sample, count blood cells, analyze the components and deliver the results faster and more consistently than manual methods.
The completion time for blood test results vary depending on the type of test ordered by the doctor. Check with the lab phlebotomist or the doctor for a more accurate date on when results will be available.
