Pharmacy
Gila Regional's Pharmacy promotes the Planetree philosophy and medication safety for patients by utilizing the latest technology in medication dispensing including bar codes and the Pyxis 3500 Medstations. Pharmacy maintains an active interface with the medical staff by having pharmacists work out on the patient care areas monitoring drug therapy and medication dosing. Chemotherapy and non chemo IV solutions are prepared in a certified clean room meeting the strict sterile standards mandated by regulatory agencies
Pharmacists review all medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and drug-drug, drug-allergy and drug-food interactions. In addition to oversight of drug distribution throughout the facility pharmacists serve as a resource for nursing, other health professions as well as patients.
Our pharmacy is staffed by a director, two full time pharmacists, three part time pharmacists and five certified pharmacy technicians. Two of the pharmacists and the director hold a doctor's degree in pharmacy.
The GRMC pharmacy is also a training site for pharmacy students from the University of Arizona and University of New Mexico as well as international pharmacy students from the University of Singapore.
