January 9, 2017 – The new Interim CEO, Alfredo Ontiveros, met with the department directors at Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC). This was his first official day of work at GRMC though he had served as the CEO before back in the mid-90s. Mr. Ontiveros stated, "I am here to help Gila Regional meet challenges by sharing my experiences. I intend to leave Gila Regional the same way I try to leave all hospitals where I have worked, better off than when I got here."
When detailing what his goals would be during his three month stay at GRMC, Mr. Ontiveros said "I will be looking at the Meditech project, the hospital's finances and the staffing levels organization wide to ensure we are properly staffed in all departments."
During the meeting, the only requests he made of the department directors were two things, do your jobs and have a positive attitude. "I will know your attitude is positive, by your smiles."
While Mr. Ontiveros has an open door policy, he let the directors know that he likes to walk around and see people. For personal meetings, it is best to make an appointment so that he can give the best one-on-one service possible. Since his original tour here at GRMC, Mr. Ontiveros has served several hospitals as both a permanent CEO and an Interim CEO. He brings with him all the knowledge he has gained over the years to help keep GRMC moving forward while the search for a permanent CEO continues. He concluded the meeting by saying, "I think we're going to have some fun and continue to provide a great environment to work in and maintain our 4-Star Quality care."
Gila Regional welcomes Mr. Alfredo Ontiveros back to serve again in the role of CEO even if it is only for a short time.
