Under the direction of the Laboratory Services Director, Supervisors and/or Medical Director conducts a variety of laboratory procedures for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.  Evaluates new procedures.  Performs testing on automated and manual procedures. Problem solves; performs QC/QA as needed; performs phlebotomy; and other duties as assigned..

• (Certified:) Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with specialized training in medical technology or directly related field.  Must be certified as a MT by ASCP or NCA and maintains certification while employed at GILA Regional Medical Center. Must re-certify by December 31^st of each year and supply documentation to Human Resources by March 1^st.
• (Non-Certified:)  Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with specialized training in medical technology or directly related field.  Must become certified as a MT within one year by ASCP or NCA

• Experience: Requires up to three months to become proficient in specific laboratory test procedures performed at GILA Regional Medical Center.

• Normally Monday through Friday 8:00a – 4:30 p.  Work requirements may also occur before or after usual working hours such as working second or third shift.
