The Emergency Room Clerk/Monitor Technician is a non-licensed employee of the nursing department.  He/she is responsible for performing clerical meditech orders and entries in addition to cardiac rhythm monitoring and limited patient care duties. He/she is responsible for nursing staff notification of rhythm status/changes, posting/measurement of strips, informing nursing staff of patient orders and EMS radio reports.  Performs duties in a responsible professional manner, in accordance with GRMC care and practice procedures.  Strictly adheres to the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

·        Current BLS – AHA – Certification preferred.  Must be obtained within 3 months.

·        At least one year experience as a Ward Clerk/Monitor Technician.

·        Basic EKG rhythm recognition course.

·        Meditech training and order entry system.

• Normally 8-12 hour shifts.  Occasional 4-hour shifts may be scheduled.  Must be able to work every other weekend, holidays and as needed. Must be willing an able to work any shift needed.  Must be flexible with scheduling requirements.  May be asked to take on-call or work extra hours to assist in department coverage.
