We feel our volunteers - members of the Gila Regional Medical Center Auxiliary- are some of Gila Regional's greatest resources. Each year, Auxilians combined volunteered hours computed at minimum wage would equal over $100,000 worth of service to the hospital. These compassionate, caring people volunteer thousands of hours each year to help the hospital run more smoothly.

Auxiliary members make the rounds each morning and afternoon delivering mail, meals, flowers, and reading materials to patients. Volunteers also are available to escort patients to their rooms upon admission to the hospital and escort patients when discharged. Each weekday afternoon auxiliary members bring a juice cart around to patients. They also have books available for loan at the front desk, which they will bring to patients on request.

Auxiliary members also hold regular fund raisers, and we are thankful to them for purchasing the domed awning which protects and beautifies our front entrance. Perhaps more importantly, however, the Auxiliary uses much of the money they raise to fund scholarships for students pursuing health care educations.
As if all this weren't enough, Auxilians also make "Care Bears" to be distributed by Emergency Medical Services to children who are facing tragic circumstances. They make hundreds of these soft, comforting bears every year.
The Auxiliary Gift Shop provides gifts and goodies to families and friends of patients and hospital caregivers. The products in the gift shop are of high quality and cheer up a lot of patients.

If you appreciate the time and compassion of our volunteers and would be interested in helping the Auxiliary provide these services at Gila Regional Medical Center, call our Volunteer Coordinator at 575-534-4233 and ask about becoming one of our valued volunteers.
