Doctor Okay Harold Odocha is a Howard University trained surgeon with advanced training in liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, under Dr. Thomas E. Starzl.
With over twenty-five years of experience in abdominal, breast, transplantation, cancer and vascular access surgery, Dr. Odocha has with compassion and dedication, cared for numerous patients afflicted with chronic constipation, cancer, diabetes, hernias, debilitating ulcerating wounds, hemorrhoids, hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, disorders of the thyroid gland, gall bladder, kidney, pancreas and other disorders following major and minor trauma.
Doctor Okay Harold Odocha is board certified in general surgery, and was previously an associate professor of surgery. Chief of Liver Transplantation at Howard University in Washington, D.C. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) since 1997, Dr. Odocha was awarded a Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery (D. MAS) by the World Association of Laparoscopy Surgeons in 2010.
Areas of Interest
A well published author and poet. In 2009, his patient centered collection of poems titled "Angels in our Midst" published by Book Surge LLC a subsidiary of Amazon, was nominated for the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize Award of the University of Pittsburgh Press for first full-length book of poems.
Currently, Dr. Odocha is an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of New Mexico medical school in Albuquerque, NM, where he is involved in the surgical education of future medical doctors and physician assistants. Also, in association with Hidalgo Medical Services [HMS] Residency Training Program here in Silver City, NM. Dr. Odocha is involved in the training of young resident doctors in the care of surgical patients. Furthermore, through the Door Christian Fellowship Church, Dr. Odocha holds Bible Classes at the Grant County Detention Center on Sundays for inmates interested in pursuing the Christian Way of life.
