Gila Regional Auxiliary Announces Auxilian of the Year

On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, the Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) showed their appreciation to GRMC Auxiliary members at an annual awards luncheon. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Cunningham and Chief Operations Officer (COO) Dan Otero presented the Auxiliary Hours Bar Awards acknowledging the number of hours volunteered by Auxilians since each became a member. Patsy Miller was honored for 19,000 hours of volunteer time and was the member with the largest number of hours. Also recognized was June Rhodes for serving 30 years as a GRMC Auxiliary volunteer.

The highest honor went to Emilie Roybal, she was named "Auxilian of the Year" and has been a member of the GRMC Auxiliary for the past 7 years. Emilie volunteers in four departments including the Cancer Center, Surgical Center, ER Information Desk and the Auxiliary Gift Shop. She is also a member of the Silver Stompers where she has line danced the last three years at the Senate, House and Rotunda in Santa Fe, besides many appearances around the county. Emilie has attended the New Mexico Hospital Association (NMHA) Auxiliary district meetings and annual meetings and is a member of the State Retired Teachers Association.

"Without a doubt, this lady is always cheerful, kind, courteous and projects a caring attitude toward patients, family and fellow volunteers." Said Leda Evert, State Auxiliary President for New Mexico, about this year's Auxiliary of the Year recipient.

Every year the Gila Regional Auxiliary donates the gift of personal time and caring to the hospital by assisting patients and caregivers receive and give the best care possible. Over 20,000 hours have been donated in the 2012-2013 cycle year.
