October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To spread the good news that many women can survive breast cancer if it's found and treated early, the Gila Regional Mammography Team is offering a drawing for Spa Baskets to women who schedule their mammogram in October. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it's easier to treat.

Breast self-exam (BSE) is an option for women starting in their 20s. The goal is to come to understand your normal and report any breast changes to their health professional right away. Receive a free Guide to Breast Self-Exam shower card when you call 575-538-4657 and leave your mailing information.

The GRMC Mammography department is accredited by the American College of Radiology. The American Cancer Society recommends screening every year for all women age 40 and older. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening every two years for women ages 50 to 74. Ask your doctor what is right for you and then call 575-538-4051 to schedule a mammogram.
