First Baby in Grant County for 2017 has been born
January 2, 2017 - The First Baby in Grant County for 2017 has been born at Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC). Galilea Alvarez came to this world at 12:12 AM on January 2nd, 2017. She was 8.15 lbs, seen here held by her mom, Erika Alvarez. Also pictured is her proud big brother, Sebastian Alvarez and her father, José Muñoz.
The family was presented a jogging stroller filled with some great baby items to help the family and little Galilea to start off the New Year right. All items were purchased through a collection between the Maternal Child caregivers and providers, Nursing Administration and the Gila Regional Volunteer Auxiliary.
Erika and the family traveled from Deming, NM to have Galilea at GRMC. When asked why they chose Gila Regional, Erika replied,
"Gila Regional is an awesome hospital."
GRMC is a certified Baby-Friendly® hospital since 2015, one of only eight in New Mexico.
Welcome Galilea to the world and congratulations on being the first baby born in Grant County for 2017 at GRMC.
