Dr. Sergeant Earns Fellows in Hospital Medicine

Michael C. Sergeant, MD, FHM has earned his Fellows in Hospital Medicine (FHM) designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM).

Gila Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that Michael C. Sergeant, MD, FHM has earned his Fellows in Hospital Medicine (FHM) designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). The "FHM" designation represents years of experience and commitment to patient care in the hospital.

A hospitalist is a specially trained physician based at the hospital seven days-a-week, 24 hours-a-day. The FHM credential is a key component in professional development for hospitalists. To be designated as a Fellow in Hospital Medicine, a hospitalist must:

  • Serve as a hospitalist for at least 5 years,
  • Be a member of SHM for at least three years, and
  • Demonstrate their dedication to quality and process improvement and commitment to organizational teamwork, leadership and lifelong learning.

Michael C. Sergeant, MD, FHM will be inducted as a Fellow at SHM's Annual Meeting in San Diego, California on April 3, 2012.
