GRMC Launches Search for Rural Community CEO

February 20, 2017 – The Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Board of Trustees met to decide on the members of the community that would assist in choosing the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for GRMC. Board member and committee lead Tony Trujillo joined the meeting via phone as well as Mr. Michael Soler, President and Managing Partner of EWC Healthcare. The committee will consist of members from the Community, including physicians, healthcare specialists, caregivers, and representatives from schools and local government.

From the 49 people that asked to be on the committee, these are the 15 names that were picked to serve on the search committee: Billy Billings – Grant County Commissioners; Kevin Cook – Freeport McMoRan; Chris DeBolt – GRMC Retiree; Jean Fortenberry – GRMC Foundation; Mary Harcinske – GRMC Employee; Eileen Smith – GRMC Auxiliary; James Marshall – Town of Silver City; Denise McNutt – GRMC Registered Nurse; Dr. Miguel Narvaez – Western New Mexico University ; Dan Otero – CEO at Hidalgo Medical Services; Ben Potts – Silver Schools; Frank Quarrell – Cobre High School; Derek Ratcliff – Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Brian Robinson - Gila Multi-Specialty Independent Practice Association and Dr. John Stanley – Gila Family Medicine. In the event that one or more of the selected committee members are unable to serve, an alternate committee member list was created to choose from. In conjunction with the Board of Trustees, the committee will help to evaluate the many applicants that have submitted their resumes for the CEO position at GRMC.

"The committee will assist the Board of Trustees in narrowing down the candidates to the top three or four by conducting some of the initial interviews and reviewing resumes" said Tony Trujillo, committee lead for the CEO Search Committee.

The search committee will first go through a period of training by Michael Soler from EWC healthcare and GRMC Human Resources Director Barbara Barela in the search and selection process. Once the training is complete, the task of weeding through the many applicants and recommending a few finalists will begin.

"In the end the GRMC Board of Trustees will make the final decision on who the next CEO for Gila Regional will be" added Mr. Trujillo.
