Scholarships

Financial Assistance is available through GRMC, the GRMC Foundation and GRMC Auxiliary. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage and assist individuals with entry into Health Care Professions, with the intent these caregivers will return to Gila Regional in their new field following graduation.

These scholarships are awarded annually to local residents and include:

  • Alice Hamm Memorial Scholarship
    This scholarship is in memory of Alice Hamm, who served as a registered nurse at Gila Regional and was the wife of Dr. Leslie Hamm who was a member of GRMC's medical staff. New Mexico students who have been accepted into a health care related program are eligible to apply. Details and applications are available by contacting Human Resources Office at (575) 538-4076.

  • GRMC Foundation Mann Endowment
    The Mann Endowment is intended for students pursuing a career in the health care field. It was established in the memory of Dr. Arthur H. Mann. Applicants must be accepted into a health sciences program. Preference is given to residents of the Four County area and to GRMC employees/families.   • GRMC Foundation Starlipper Endowment
    This endowment is in memory of Betty J. Starlipper, a long-time GRMC Auxiliary volunteer. It is intended for students pursuing a Nursing Education, either at the entry level of RN, or for advanced training for persons who are already RN's. Preference is given to residents of the Four County area and to GRMC employees/families who intend to work at GRMC after graduation.   • GRMC Foundation Polly Pine Memorial Scholarships
    The GRMC Foundation has established two scholarships in memory of Polly Pine, who served as GRMC CEO 1998 - 2000. One scholarship is designed to assist those individuals who are entering into or who are completing an RN program. The second scholarship is designed to assist those individuals enrolled in a health care field, administratively or professionally. Preference is given to residents of the Four County area and to GRMC employees/families who intend to work at GRMC after graduation.   • GRMC Educational Financial Assistance Program (FAP)
    This program was established to assist Gila Regional employees with professional education in Health Care fields. Annually, Administration will review staffing needs of the hospital (present or future) and determine which Health Care fields "qualify" for assistance under this program. Preference is given to current GRMC employees who intend to practice in their field at Gila Regional after graduation.   • Nancy Jay Stevens Scholarshop
    Nancy Jay Stevens This scholarship was created in July 2012 in memory of Nancy Jay Stevens, who worked for GRMC Foundation from 2007-2012 and was a beloved educator in our community. Throughout her career as a teacher, Nancy relentlessly pursued opportunities to improve the lives of children and teens in Grant County. This scholarship is designed to assist our community's youth who intend to follow a career path in the field of healthcare, administratively or professionally. The scholarship supports students who have demonstrated philanthropic leadership, promoting healthy living within the community and/or in a school environment, through volunteer work and/or involvement in student leadership activities.
